This calculator estimates life expectancy using published U.S. life tables:

SSA 2022 Period Life Table: Provides the base life expectancy at different ages for males and females. Values are interpolated to give estimates at ages between the published points.

CDC Life Tables (2022/2025): Add further detail by incorporating life expectancy differences by race and ethnicity. Where available, these adjustments refine the estimate to reflect demographic patterns observed in national data.

Inputs: Current age, sex, and smoking status (with a configurable adjustment for smokers).

Outputs: Estimated expected lifespan.

The values shown are period life expectancies, which assume current mortality rates remain constant in the future. They are averages based on large populations, not individual predictions.
